Chapter 14

BETTER KNOWN AS THE LAST CHAPTER

Sometimes just before the early 90's I went to the Texas Rehabilitation Commission for help. They ask me what I wanted. I said that I wanted paralegal software. Also, I mentioned wanting desk-top publishing software. Besides that I need a computer and the education to use it. The counselor was willing until I told him why I wanted this equipment.

"Why do you want this equipment and training Mr. Michaelis?",

he asked. I would like the paralegal software to research my case against the federal government. I would sue them for 56 million dollars. Then I would use desk-top software to publish a book about how I did it. I would like to encourage everyone to sue the government.

"Mr. Michaelis", the counselor said, "you are crazy."

"Is that right?", I asked. "That is good. That should qualify me for rehabilitation." He responded with, "Here is the way we are going to turn your request down, Mr. Michaelis." I sat out on the edge of my chair. I didn't want to miss a word of what he was saying. He said, "We know that you have several years of sobriety. We know you have been in an alcohol and drug program. We know that you do not want to take any kind of drugs. We therefore, will send you to doctors who will prescribe drugs. When you fail to take these drugs, we will say you did not cooperate. We will use that to turn you request down".

I wasn't convinced

and went back a couple of weeks later. This time I was wired with a small tape recorder. I ask him to explain again how Texas Rehabilitation was going to turn me down. I got it all on tape. I sent a copy to each commissioner on the Texas Rehabilitation Commission Board. I also sent copies to the various news media. I never got anywhere with this. The media would not touch it.

I had the goods hands down on Texas Rehabilitation. It was one of society's sacred cows. For the next few years I was in battle with them. It was useless. Finally, another bureaucracy gave me what Texas Rehabilitation would not. They gave me the computer and software. I am using that computer to do the final revisions on this book. The Bureaucracy that came through for me was Mental Health and Mental Retardation.

Although, they are big on drugs, they did not force them on me,

as Texas Rehabilitation wanted too. They helped me other ways also. They provided my first living quarters indoors. This was after years of hoboing. They provided a counselor who did not try to shove drugs down my throat. It took several years to get the grant but they finally came through. I needed some upgrading on my machine to use it for movie editing.

I went back to Texas Rehab and told them that I was going to make a movie out of the book that I had written. Now, I needed their help. Once again, all I got from them was talk. I explained that I would mention how worthless I thought they were in my book, and that I would focus much of my movie on their worthlessness. They didn't budge from their stance. They said to come back in three months and let them know how I am doing.

To help work toward improving some of the conditions we live with, I would like to promote the idea of an electronic democracy. I would like to see a national referendum to allow the public to vote on this.

We live in a world of rapid paradigm shift. The world is shifting from the old paradigm of 'politics as usual'. It is shifting toward's an informed populous. I predict that democracy will follow. You can not have democracy unless everyone is informed. Do not be fooled by the hype you see on T.V. The world is not on line yet, even though we are moving in that direction. We are still in a top down society with government agencies, not as connected as the TV hype would lead you to believe. They do not want to be bothered with the opinions of the populous in running the government. They only want the public's opinion to know what to say to get elected. When in office, they go about politics as usual.

A friend of mine today called me and said that he had decided not to vote. In fact, he said that he was going to vote, by not voting. Disillusionment with 'politics as usual' is a healthy sign. The people are awakening to the real world. In the real world, contributions buy influence. The people do not rule. Money rules. In an awakned world of the future, people control there own destinies. They refuse to do any work that they do not want to do. The work that each person does is the very best. It is the best because it is exactly the work that they chose to do. People will be so informed by interactive programmed education that they will have the information to do what they want to do. Each person will realize that they can mold their environment to suit themselves. They will have the education and resources to do so. They will have the tools to work with.

Government as we know it will be passe. If each individual governs himself, what is left to govern? I am not suggesting anarchy. I am suggesting a kaleidoscope of people interacting in a beautifully uplifting, free flowing fashion. The judicial system could also be done without a judge. Mob rule would not be bad if the mob was fully informed. That is always the strongest argument that is put forth against democracy. You mean you want the country to be ruled by a mob? Yes! Not just any mob! An informed mob.

The world is developing a nervous system. That system is called Internet. I would urge you to go to the library or book store and check out anything by an author named, " Negropointe." He has already written the books that I would have wanted to write on this subject. We live in exciting times. The spirit of mankind could soar into divinity. The process has already started. When I started writing this book several years ago, I was mad at the government. Then I became mad at myself for allowing government to intervene in my life. I was sorry that I had retreated into the woods like a coward. The booze and the dope were so I could live with myself.

Now I see life differently.

It took what it took to bring me to now. I would never have learned computers if I did not have a story to tell. I would not have a story if I had not spent time in the woods. I would not have spent time in the woods if I were not paranoid of our government. I would not have been paranoid of our government if I had not experienced the worst end of it. I would not have experienced the worst end of it if I had faced the challenges with a sober mind. I would not be sober today if I had not found out that it is the only way not to be enslaved by the system. Everything working together produced this book. I want this book to awaken people. I want people to be aware. Remember, until we change our present form of government, perfect paranoia, may be perfect awareness.
